September's Resource of the Month: Autistics Aloud!

On the 15th of each month, we will be spotlighting a local business, organization, service or non-profit that is either led by Autistic individuals, individuals with Intellectual Disabilities and/or people who are neurodivergent. Whether it's a sensory-friendly shop or an inclusive service, we want to celebrate and share those who make a difference in our community. For this month, we are excited to spotlight Autistics Aloud!

Welcome to our Resource of the Month!

This September, we’re thrilled to spotlight Autistics Aloud, an inspiring grassroots magazine dedicated to celebrating autistic voices and experiences.

What is Autistics Aloud?

Autistics Aloud is a grass-roots magazine created by autistic people for everyone. It’s not just a publication; it’s a community space where autistic individuals can share their stories, poetry, art, and ideas. Autistics Aloud provides a platform where every autistic voice can be heard and valued. Their magazine features autistic voices across the lifespan (you should check out their LifeSpan edition here: https://www.autisticsaloud.ca/lifespans ) from children, youth, young adults, adults and older.

Spotlighting This Month's Pick:

Autistics Aloud features first-voice perspectives front and center. Each magazine series is packed with content submitted by autistic creators. The magazine features three series, each composed of various editions. They include:

  1. Life spans which features the following editions: 1 in 66, Health, Diagnosis, Education, and Pride.

  2. Seasons series which features the Summer edition, Fall edition and Winter edition.

  3. Autistics Aloud's NEW series which is "Conversations" - each edition will feature a 5-question interview featuring autistic Canadians. The first edition in this series is out now!

Autistics Aloud can also be found on Facebook and Instagram.

If you’re as excited about Autistics Aloud as we are, check them out at Autistics Aloud. You can dive into their latest edition (Conversations featuring Madyson Snow), read previous editions, or contact the Editor in Chief to contribute your own pieces. Supporting resources like this helps promote understanding and acceptance within the community while also breaking down stigma around autism. There is something for everyone in this magazine, and we hope you take a moment to explore it!

Stay tuned for more awesome resources in the coming months!
