Our Mission:

Our mission is to be a leading force in empowering Autistic individuals / individuals with Autism, Intellectual Disabilities and Neurodivergent youth and adults. We are dedicated to providing compassionate, person-directed support services that foster independence, confidence, and inclusivity. Our goal is to ensure every individual has the opportunity to thrive on their own terms.

STARS (Supportive Tailored Autism Respite Services) was officially created in June 2024, however the idea has been in development for so much longer. We are aware there is a gap in services for neurodivergent youth and adults in Nova Scotia and are looking to play a part in filling some of that gap.

Although STARS provides support to youth and adults with Autism/Autistic adults and youth, we also have experience supporting in many aspects of people with Intellectual Disabilities. We offer a range of services that are tailored to your specific needs, wants and goals. You do not need a formal diagnosis to be supported through STARS.

Our services provide the flexibility to provide respite to caregivers but in a way that also allows us to use respite as a space to develop a sense of value, identify individual wants and needs, create opportunities for independence all while providing an open, non-judgmental place to have safe conversations.

We do not offer programs. We do, however, offer connection, individual support and customization to the skills and goals that our clients are looking to develop.

We are a safe space for neurodiverse S2LGBTQIA+, youth, adults and elders/seniors.
